About Jake
I have been involved in music all my life as the daughter of touring musicians. It was a natural move for me to follow my parents career choices and begin touring right after high school. I studied music formally from an early age first classical, then broadway and then pop.
I started multi award winning band and spent 10 years touring extensively.
I have been a pop vocal coach for ten years. I help people find their voice through a method of singing called "on the breath," an extension of speaking, natural and easy-flowing. You sing the music you LOVE, and, together, we incorporate vocal technique with having a blast until we are both happy with the performance. I look for students with heart and desire as the main pre-requisite! Is that you?
Music is joy. Music is a physical vibration that releases seritonin and actually has healing properties.
With everything going on in the world today I feel like music is a beautiful, therapudic experience and few things make me happier than being able to share that with a student and to watch them feel the growth.
I have also found that when students find their singing voice and are brave enough to communicate through music that is spills over into their speaking voices as well in the form of confidence and clarity.
After spending 18 years touring in various bands as a vocal performer I decided I wanted to spend more time at home and an opportunity arose to be involved in an innovative music program where kids could experience their private music lessons during school hours. It was a private school and 90% of the kids enrolled in the program. As th kids graduated from the school they wanted to stay on with me so I opened a private studio to accommodate the older students. I then moved from Canada to get married and now I live in Atlanta.
I have studied voice since I was 14 years old.
I have training in classical and broadway and pop.

First I get to know them. We deep dive. Basic likes and dislikes musically. Favourite artists, favourite songs and why. We talk about the understanding of the mechanics of the voice and the mental componant. Singing happens first in the mind and then in the body. I find out if there are any concerns or areas of development they are looking to target and then....we sing. Lesson plans evolve from there. Vocal excercises to strengthen the muscle. Breathing technique to carry the tone. And ...I've got jokes that my students must laught at!! My environment is very "coffee house". Comfort, ease, and fun!
I have worked with age ranges between 6 years old and 50.
I have worked with beginers who are just starting out, professionals who want to brush up on technique and middle aged housewives who have always wanted to sing but never gave it a shot and love it as a hobby.
I welcome people with heart, previous training or degrees of ability are of no concern to me.
Look for a connection. Singing is a very vulnerable situation. If you are comfortable your progress will come quickly!!
I helped produce a live show of my husbands on our roof for a virtual VEEPS concert.

Where do I even start about the things I have to say about Jake? She had such an incredibly positive impact on me when I was growing up. I was a shy, awkward kid and Jake had this special way of bringing me out of my shell and making me feel like a rockstar, in terms of singing and otherwise. She had a unique talent for making her students feel like her friends, whether it was by organizing camps at her studio or letting us record at her apartment. She talked to you like you were an adult, like you were on her level, and I’ll never forget the way she made me feel. I have nothing but amazing things to say ❤️
Jake was the best mentor I could ever hope for for my daughter. She was such a positive and encouraging influence on her during critical years in a young woman's life, and her coaching had a huge impact on my daughter's developing confidence. She started as an average singer, and developed into an outstanding singer who now also plays an instrument and writes songs. That's terrific, but what I appreciate more than that is the confidence that my daughter carries with her in every aspect of her life now. I value Jake's influence more than any other adult in my daughter's life. We love Jake. She is a beautiful, kind, funny and thoughtful person and we are very lucky to have worked with her.
Jake is single handedly responsible for some my fondest memories in music. She is an incredible vocalist and teacher, but an better coach in that she inspires students and gives them the opportunity to grow through experience. I’m still so grateful!
Jake is so friendly and patient with the kids. She is wonderful with them and they love to learn with her. They have a great relationship and both look forward to their sessions not to mention she has a beautiful voice and makes it fun for her students 😍
Being around Jake and her encouragement did wonders to my self-esteem. I wouldn’t be the same person today without my time with her! And certainly not nearly as skilled in the professional aspects of vocal work.
