About Svetlana
Hello and thank you for visiting my page.
My name is Svetlana or Lana and I am originally from Sakhalin Island, Russia.
Russian is my native language and was my favorite subject at school. I always excelled in writing literature assignments, foreign languages and cultural diversity in school. I received my 12 years High School Diploma in Russian School of Foreign Languages and Culture and later continued to the Institute where I majored in Linguistics, specialized in English, Japanese, Korean and Russian languages. I speak three languages and am learning a fourth. I'm the proud mother of two boys, who are also trilingual.
I have been providing educational learning, translation services, private tutoring and cultural diversity education in Russia, South Korea and the United States. I’ve worked at British and American oil and medical companies in Russia, providing proofreading documentation for accuracy, daily translation services and during conference meetings. In 2002, I moved to South Korea to work with the U.S military and later started my career in teaching. I’ve worked as an assistant principal/teacher in Multicultural International School in Busan, South Korea as well as a private tutor for children and business companies. I’ve also worked closely with the Russian Consulate General in South Korea, assisting in opening the first Russian school and further improving upon and providing interpretation services. At this time, I am in the process of attaining certification in Social Services Translations for the Department of Social and Health Services in Washington State.
I’ve been tutoring in person and online worldwide for every age group. Even myself, while learning a new language, know it can be difficult at times if you don’t connect with your teacher. For that reason, all tutorials are specifically designed for each individual person. One of my main goal is to make it fun and avoid the unnecessary headache of grammar and phrases that are not normally used in daily conversation. With my knowledge and Russian being my native language, I can give hints and tips in grammar, writing, and speaking that only Russian native knows. I am always looking for ways to improve and constantly continue to further my education through my experiences. Learning and teaching has always been my passion as I believe that " A different language is a different vision of life"

Lana taught the language to my children at an international school in South Korea. The children went to her classes with great pleasure. She also taught adults, and I was one of her students. I can say that her lessons are professional because I managed to renew what I had forgotten and move to a new level of knowledge in a short time
Finding YOUR teacher is very important, otherwise you can just be disappointed in the subject and lose interest.
I really was lucky, my first teacher was Lana, for only 2 months we studied 3 times a week. And on this express course, I learned the language quite well.
At each lesson, in addition to the program and the rules, she gave me various interesting tips that you can't be taught in a regular school.
In my opinion, Lana is quite professional and strong, mostly due to the fact that she does not only has knowledge, but that she has been living worldwide for a rather long time and knows many things from the inside.
