About Marimer
Hi! My name is Marimer and I'm from Mexico City and I moved to USA 12 years ago.I am a designer and certificated artist with 30 years of of experience and knowledge. I worked in private schools for many years helping kids with motor skills problems. Also I had an art academy in Mexico with 200 students. I decided to open a studio in my basement of my house in 2014 when I moved to Cedar Rapids, and I helped many students to learn how to start with paintings and crafts. Even some of my students won as the best work at Iowa State Fair, and other places.
I love to paint abstract. I always paint on big canvas and I using all the colors possible. But sometimes my style change depends of my feelings. I enjoy when people ask me to do commissions. Mostly like family portraits ( it's the most popular request). I do paint parties combined with yoga ( with Mac Extreme) , also I do paint parties for kids.
I went to design school for 4 years and 5 years in Art school. I was considered as the best student and won national and state prizes. Also I have sold over of 100 paintings ( since nudes, abstract, realistic, family portraits, etc).

We start having a conversation of what the student wants to do before to start with lessons. I always encourage the student to experiment different styles and techniques.
When we start with lessons, I explain them how to do it step by step. Also I want the student to express using colors and the way to use the brushes.
My advice is try to find an open studio ( like mine) and a teacher who can help you to expand your painting skills. In an open studio means that you can be free whatever you want to paint and the teacher can guide you.

I like her designs in the masks she makes. She’s also creative in cake design as well as reupholstering furniture, I believe she is very creative and enjoy watching what designs she chooses.
I have been with her since she started teaching privately. Due to my disability, she will come to my home to teach myself and my daughter. She is very patient t and helps us discover our style of painting. She has us try drawing on our own and then will correct any errors as each person does not have the same skill as another. She gives us homework to help with our skills or things that needs to be done on our paintings.
I have suggested my friends to her and send their kids to her as she is great with them. My daughter enjoys going to painting lessons and learning from her, even though she prefers another style than I do and that is fine!View more recommendations

For adult $35 dlls for two hours
For kids and teenagers $30 dlls for two hours
Paint parties: for every person is $30 dlls with supplies including, when the party is over of 5 people. Less of 5, is $35 each one and supply included. Every party is 2 to 2.5 hours.
