About Elinor
At Ellie Bean Dreams, if you can dream it, I can help you achieve it. I have extensive experience teaching sewing, costume construction, corset construction, costume design and rendering, drawing, and writing. Let me help you get creative!
Teaching has always been something I've been interested in. I enjoy helping people learn new things, so becoming a teacher was a no-brainer.
I have a BFA in Art from the Cooper Union School of Art in NYC. I also have an MFA in Scenography (costume, lighting, and set design) from the University of Kansas. I worked 9 years as a full time college professor, and I taught classes like Costume Design, Costume Construction, Corset Construction, Scenic Design, Theatre Appreciation, Introduction to Theatre, and Speech.

I like to get to know a new student so I can really understand what the student is hoping to gain from our class (or classes) together. I like to lay out expectations and goals early on so the student and I can make a plan on how to achieve those goals.
I have worked primarily with college age students, but I've taught students ranging in ages from 8 to adults in their 70s.
Be really clear on what your goals are. What do you want to learn? What are you hoping to gain from these classes and how can this particular teacher help you reach your goals?
I observed a drawing class with first graders, and one of the students was so excited she stood for almost the entire class. She would draw something and then flutter her hands excitedly like she couldn't contain all that happy energy.

Assisted her in the costume shop at Wesleyan in Lincoln. A dream to work with, patient and a great teacher. Really improved my skills.
She teaches things in a way everyone can relate to. She has a way of making the material fun and relatable. You can’t help but learn when you’re with her and they’ll be techniques that last a lifetime.
