About Michael
I’m a passionate pianist with a deep love for all genres of music—though Classical music, especially the works of Chopin, holds a special place in my heart. I’m currently attending Weber State University on a music scholarship, and have been honored to receive multiple scholarship offers from other institutions as well.
I believe strongly in the Faber Method of teaching, which I use with my students because it builds a solid foundation in theory, technique, and expression—key components of becoming a confident and well-rounded pianist. In addition to teaching, I compose and produce original music and arrangements. One of my favorite pieces I’ve written is an arrangement of “Jesus, Once of Humble Birth,” which I’ve included on my profile for you to enjoy.
What truly sets my approach apart is the way I connect with my students—especially children. I invest deeply in their growth, both musically and personally. If I notice a student losing interest, I take time to get curious. I’ll ask about their favorite video game, movie, or song—and then I’ll create a custom arrangement at their current piano level based on what they love. This sparks excitement and reminds them that music can be both meaningful and fun.
Many of my students have gone on to participate in piano competitions, and I actively seek out opportunities for those who are ready and interested. But beyond competitions, my greatest joy comes from watching them grow and fall in love with music in their own way.
I also go the extra mile to support my students outside of lessons. When invited by families, I attend their school performances, sporting events, and other milestones—because I believe learning is about connection, not just instruction. I’m also proud to serve as my ward choir accompanist and the Primary chorister, where I get to experience the joy and humor of children weekly—they continue to teach me just as much as I hope to teach them.
Whether you’re a beginner or a concert-level pianist, I believe that if you can play a tune, you are a musician. Music is the universal language that connects us—and I’d be honored to help you or your child discover just how powerful it can be.
I graduated from a performance high school in 2018. While there, I was admitted into the Music Conservatory program, which is an elite invitation.
From 2018-2020, I worked on personal growth with my technique and repertoire. I wrote and arranged a few pieces which were professionally recorded.
From 2020-present, I have taught as many as 35 students per week from ages 5-adult.
2024-present, I received a departmental full tuition scholarship at Weber State University under the piano performance program. My plan is to receive my Bachelor's degree and pursue my Master's and Doctorate.

I teach the Faber method and stand by it. It teaches all the foundations to accelerate as a pianist. I teach theory, technique, piano performance, lesson material, and a challenge piece (longer term) to those who have progressed enough past the early beginner level. Scales are significantly important. Although it's not always the student's favorite, they build foundation and fundamentals in all repertoire that they play.
Some students don't have as much interest in learning the piano but their parents want them to. I have had success keeping students like this interested by making arrangements of music that meets their skill level of songs that they like from movies, video games, TV shows, church music, etc. I have no problem spending the extra time doing so without a fee if it keeps the child engaged in culture.

I currently charge $21 per half hour lesson. I request payments to be made through Venmo or cash.
Teaching piano is my job that I take very seriously and you expect me to show up to work and not call in sick; therefore, if you are absent for a lesson, refunds will not be offered unless certain circumstances have been arranged with me.
Payment for the full month is due at the first lesson of each month. For example, if there are 4 weeks in a month and I charge $21 per lesson, $84 would be due at the first lesson of the month.
