About Bella
After working for 14 years in Hollywood, I've become the go-to teacher for anyone interested in pop or rock music. I've worked with singers and instrumentalists and producers as well as actors, filmmakers, and songwriters.
I combine modern methods with classical and traditional ones. In my classes, you will learn how to read music AND improvise. You'll play classical music as well as jazz and even pop and rock and roll.
People love my lessons because I'll also make sure you learn the ins and outs of music: Music Theory. My ultimate goal is to make you an independent player. There are a lot of modern teachers who focus on playing by ear or rote, but you will never be able to go out on your own that way.
By learning a combination of reading notes as well as improvising and learning about music theory, you will be set up for a life long experience of making music.
My approach is kind but direct. I won't waste any time figuring out where to start and you WILL play something fun in every single lesson.
Music is one of life's greatest gifts. Cheesy I know. But if you're reading this, you know what I mean. I LOVE interracting with students and showing them as much as I can in each lesson. I have over 25 years of musical experience and I want to give this information away to anyone who wants it. It's a total JOY for me to do this every day.
By accident! One of my best friends wanted to learn, so I taught her just for fun. She thought I was good at it (she learned how to play after all!) and ecouraged me to try it out professionally. I'm really glad she did, because here I am over 15 years later!!
I studied at an exclusive high school for the performing arts where I took an average of 4 music classes each day. I studied guitar, piano, voice and musical theatre as well as music theory and music history.
On top of that, I studied viola privately and played in a rock band. I started college with a few music scholarships, including the Michael Jackson Music Scholarship. I graduated from the University of North Florida.
By the time I was 24 years old, I had 3 albums of original music and I was performing professionally.

I ask them what their musical goals are. Then I find out what type of music they love the most. Then I test to see if they're better at learning to read music or playing by rote. We will definitely do BOTH over the course of several lessons, but I want to make the student feel the most comfortable on the first day, so I will choose a piece of music in their learning abilty range as well as what I think they will enjoy the most.
All kinds... little kids as young as 4. Adults in retirement. Teenagers. Kids of all ages, really. Professional actors and musicians as well as aspiring songwriters and singers. The children of professional musicians :-) That's because any parent will tell you it's a pain to teach their own. I'm honored they choose me to teach their kids.
I love students at EVERY level.
You want a teacher who is patient and kind and open to hearing what your needs are. At the same time, you want someone who will push you and make sure you are doing things correctly (re: finger positions, posture, looking at the sheet music, etc.) as well as helping you figure out practice routines and habits.
A good blend of patience, love, and directness is a great thing in a piano teacher!
Last night an adult student asked me to spend 15 minutes teaching her husband who has never played before and didn't really seem that excited to learn. I got the feeling it was ALL her idea :-)
So the first thing I asked is what his favorite kind of music is. He said Beatles. GREAT.
I taught him how to play four chords which creates the whole LET IT BE song. He was really into it!! I had to peel myself away because he kept asking for more guidance, even though he was doing great on his own. I was elated afterwards. That's what I live for.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are your long term goals? To play in a band? To play after work in order to de-stress? To play for your church? To jam with your kids?
What style of music would you love to play? It doesn't have to be classical! But that's also great. Be honest with yourself and your teacher about the music you would prefer to play. Life's too short to play music you hate!

My 10yr old daughter has been taking piano lesson with Bella for 1 1/2 years and loves it. Every week, my daughter has new material to learn, which keeps her excited and motivated to practice. Bella is super nice, professional, always on time & easy to work with. And her students LOVE her.
Thank you, Bella for everything!Bella is always very helpful and patient with every new song I play and never gets frustrated when I have trouble with anything that has to do with piano. I seem to learn songs very quickly due to her great way of teaching.
BELLA is such a treasure of a music teacher...my boys (now 9 & 6.5 yo7 have been taking piano from her for almost 3 years and their skills growing by leaps and bounds.
She keeps the lessons fun with plenty of games and silliness, but also lays out clear practice expectations as the kids build their pieces toward one of her legendary seasonal concerts, where all her students (big & small) come together for performances, sing alongs and great food.
BELLA is the best; there is none higher.Bella has played an important role in my development as a musician. I’m always looking forward to my next class with Go Play Piano!
Bella is a wonderful person and piano teacher! She is always professional, prepared, and knowledgable. I recommend Bella as a piano teacher no matter what age or skill level you have!
Bella is so patient, and that’s such a great quality to have in a piano teacher. I love learning from her :)
Bella has been more than a teacher to me. I usually get very uncomfortable when being taught. I worry about my performance and have trouble comfortably making mistakes. Bella has a way of bypassing all of that. The music we learn is music that inspires to me as an artist and human, its speaks specifically to my needs and style of learning. That way, it doesnt feel like im being taught. It feels like a conversation. She's also just one of the warmest people i know. its hard to not feel at ease. The process with Bella is just simple, it eliminates ovethinking and just makes it something you look forward to practicing everyday.
