About Amy
Hi, my name is Amy Hill. I am a retired NYC Public School Teacher. I taught all grades from Kindergarten through Sixth grade. My specially is writing, reading, handwriting and Phonics. I have a Masters Degree in Elementary and Urban Education. I taught in the same school for 29 years . I also taught adut education classes for 21 years at Kingsborough Community College, again with an emphasis on reading, creative and expository witing, until I retired in 2018. What makes our services stand out is, I am comsidered an "Old-School" teacher. Give me a student who needs to learn how to read and write, and I will see them through. My approach is calm, slow, kind and deliberate. Within a one-hour lesson, I will teach your little one letters, sounds, and writing sentences. I have cats, and will serve your child milk and cookies.
Besiders, having a lot of fun teaching all the components of Language Arts, what I enjoy the most is when I see a young student who may be struggling with the basics of reading and writing and knowing, I can remedy the situation. In the unusual times we are facing, parents have a lot on their plate. I love that I have the ability (and success) to take some of the pressure away from a parent. My services will be available to your child for as long as needed.
