About Gabrielle Lola
I am a charismatic, creative and well-spoken professional that focuses on holistic development of each student in the subject they are learning. I truly take the time to get to know my students in order to cater the learning process to their specific needs and interests and make it enjoyable for them.
I strongly promote a personalized education and try to make materials as tangible and relatable as possible for each student so that it the standardized materials become easier to process and so that success is more rewarding.
Having worked as a tutor, college counselor, TA and teacher in a variety of subjects to students of all ages and backgrounds, I am a well-rounded and have a strong set of transferable skills, insight and resources to share with my students. I graduated with highest honors from the University of Colorado and worked for the Resident Life and Leadership program for 3 years mentoring students and helping them achieve academic and social success. Studying anthropology gave me a unique awareness of the learning process and how humans digest information which I use masterfully in my classes.
I have since been certified in Peace and Conflict Studies, Religious Studies, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Child Welfare Policy (GAP Travel) and have earned awards for Achievement in Intercultural Education (CIEE) and Excellence in Leadership (GAP Travel).
I pride myself in my ability to mentor and help students set strong academic/career/personal goals, igniting their potential and forging pathways for future endeavors.
As a fierce advocate for equal and universal availability to any sort of education, I am a particularly passionate instructor of foreign languages and cultural-mentor, as these grants learners access to futures they might not have considered or been considered for prior. Being multilingual myself and given my experiences teaching languages and other topics I know I will be a key to opening this door—they key, however, is nothing without the hand(s) that turns it. I hope to make these prospects clear to those I would mentor while also seizing the chance to promote intercultural exchanges.
I am proactive, consistent and meticulous in my work, but I make sure to add a dash of humor in fun to everything that I do. Let's have some fun and learn!
I love sharing my passion for the subjects I teach (foreign languages, culture, anthropology, history, writing) and seeing that passion evolve in the students. It is so rewarding to me when students make meaningful connections to the subject and materials. My favorite moments are when students realize their immense potential to be successful in any subject they put their mind to.
My first experiencing teaching was working in a community center in Nicaragua the summer of 2008. I immediately found my place connecting with students and have since honed my teaching skills with students from over 30 countries.
Bachelor of Arts- ANTHROPOLOGY w/ highest honors from University of Colorado and Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (Santiago, Dominican Republic)
I have been certified in Peace and Conflict Studies, Religious Studies, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Child Welfare Policy (GAP Travel) and have earned awards for Achievement in Intercultural Education (CIEE) and Excellence in Leadership (GAP Travel).

Lola is fluent in the languages but more importantly she has a thorough understanding of the culture in terms of gender, socioeconomics, the cost of imperialism, and race/ethnic divisions. Lola is well read and well traveled, which gives her many examples to pull from. She is also enthusiastic about language and culture.
Lola is so knowledgeable but also extremely passionate, making her an amazing and engaging tutor!! Her wealth of wisdom and passion for the culture makes her an invaluable.
Lola is a great tutor! Everything she says is interesting and well explained. Her knowledge about history and culture is enormous.
Lola was my guide for a Belize and Guatemala Tour. She was fabulous! She easily spoke in both English and Spanish fluently. Her knowledge and passion about Central America was obvious. She was able to relate facts about Latin America and how issues in those countries related to our home countries! She educated and entertained us every day! Just fabulous!
Lola is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, great teacher with a lot of experience!
Lola is an amazing teacher, and I believe that is because she is truly passionate about the culture, traditions, people and future of Latino people. She was incredibly knowledgeable in everything she spoke about, I asked her at least 10 questions a day in my time with her and I don’t think there was a single time she couldn’t give me a in depth, detailed answer which turned into a discussion. Lola is like someone I have never met before in that her passion for the culture really shone through in everything she said and did and you just knew that that was the core of her being. I knew practically no Spanish when I met her and left her after 3 weeks feeling like I could confidently say I could speak basic Spanish! She opened my eyes and heart to whole culture I really had no idea about and gets people so invested in the culture that you felt upset about the bad historical moments and happy about the triumphant ones. Lola is passionate, smart, kind and really left an impact on my life.
She is fluent and really good at explaining things in all languages including English
In depth knowledge and passion
Lola was my intermediate English teacher and beginners French teacher for over 2 years time. She was very professional and at the same time, incredibly caring and took her time to make sure I understood all the material before continuing on. She was patient with me, as I greatly struggle with pronouncing certain words, and especially with my grammar and writing. She has a unique talent for making the lessons fun and relatable. I can confidently say that Lola was the best teacher I have ever had.
She was very knowledgeable and much fun to learn with. Her explanations and pop culture references made it easy to learn and practice my english.

Lola was super engaging, knowledgable, and relatable and made the entire experience very memorable. She always went out of her way to ensure I had the best experience and I really appreciated it.
Lola has an broad knowledge of Latin american history and culture. She uses current events as a teaching tool to demonstrate how a country's history shapes both the event itself and how its people react to it. She is a patient and adaptable tutor who works well with all levels of ability.
Learning with Lola was fun, it wasn't just about learning a language but learning about history and culture behind it. Lola takes basic things and makes them fun with her enthusiastic and friendly personality.
Lola was able to teach me a vast amount of about Latin culture, world history and geography in a short time. She made it easy to learn and understand Spanish (language). Highly recommend Lola to anyone who is eager to learn!
I was lucky to have Lola as my tour guide on a trip through Central America. Her knowledge of the local areas we visited was very impressive, and I learnt many historical facts and stories that enriched my whole experience. Lola has the ability to bring local culture to life and make a memorable experience for all. I even picked up some Spanish words from Lola as she speaks fluently. This has inspired me to learn more since my tour.
Thank you Lola!
There are so many things I can say about Lola is not know where to start. I had the pleasure of meeting Lola when she was a CEO at G-Adventures. As a first time traveller I was so nervous to be in a whole new place, where I knew nobody. But, within the first hour of arrive Lola made the whole group feel as though we had been friends for years.
She’s an amazing person, with a true passion for Latin America. She’s knows so much about the history, culture and landscape of the continent and loves sharing all her stories and knowledge. She taught me so much about the Latin culture, so much I never would’ve even known if it wasn’t for her. Lolas passion and knowledge for the Spanish language made us all feel as though we were experts ourselves by the time we left her.
You could tell that being a CEO, was more than just a job for her. She makes it her mission to teach and educate about the real people and history throughout the whole country. Giving you a true insight into the culture.
I owe so much of my amazing travel experience to Lola and wish I could thank her for it.Lola is fluent in Spanish and has a natural ability for teaching others. She would often give us history and culture lessons and be able to explain everything from a non-bias point of view, and be able to effectively lay out the importance of that culture change or controversy within the country. Having lived in quite a few countries, all over the world throughout her life, she has a great knowledge of geography, politics and culture in many places - much more than your average person.
Lola has unbelievable patience and cares for each person, she will tutor that specific student and tailor everything to their skills and needs. She has a lust for life so no matter what, you'll have a great time learning
I cannot recommend Lola enoughLola’s knowledge of Latin American culture and history made it easy for me to understand and learn basically everything you want to know about Spanish and French culture. She knows details of specific traditions, understands the complicated history/political events, and explains it in a way that helps someone like me (who knew very little about Latin American culture) learn about the history of traditions, cultures, the different native groups, the politics, and made me really love the topics. She had the answer to every question I had and recommended me so many wonderful books! I highly recommend Lola as a tutor.
