First, I will set-up a phone interview with the parents to find out more information about the student and what their overall goals are for their child. In order to keep students engaged and motivated, I like to find out what their interests are (cartoons, games, toys, etc...) and will incorporate those things into our sessions. I think it's very important to build a positive relationship with each student and not put a lot of pressure on them as far as the activities go. I try to keep in playful yet meaningful.
