About Taylor
I enjoy working with kids and I love being in the water. I already have experience with teaching people how to swim. I teach swim lessons for both adults and children for Vancouver public schools. I’ve been doing this for about a year. I have an idea of the skills each age group should be learning, and I can identify what they should be learning based on their standing skills.
Once I was hired as a lifeguard, I learned of being a WSI, (water safety instructor). I became an aide at first, or a teachers assistant, and eventually began to teach my own classes.
I am a life guard and a swim instructor for Vancouver Public Schools, not only do I know what actions to take in case of an emergency situation, but I have had close to two years of experience teaching both adults and children how to swim.

Typically I have my students do basic swimming techniques and I identify what they struggle with. This helps me pinpoint exactly what they need help with and teach them accordingly.
I’ve worked with children as young as 3 year old, and I’ve worked with students as old as 60 years old. I’ve had mentally challenged students, as well as classes mixed with children with disabilities and with children who were advanced. Ive also worked with adults who had been terrified of water their entire lives, and adults who were training to be in a triathlon.
I recommend hiring someone who has the ability to work in diverse situations. Those teachers can not only work well under pressure but they are problem solvers and will always find a way to help get you to where you want to go.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
students should always ask what the teacher has had the most experience in or what those teachers find the most difficult about teaching and the easiest they find about teaching, this shows the student if this teacher has the set of skills required to fit their needs.

Details
For closer students or students who come to me, I charge $50.00 for one hour. For students I travel around 20 miles to teach, it will be $65.00 an hour.
