About Sorrel
Hello, my name is Sorrel and I am a postgraduate student with two years tutoring experience. In 2021, I graduated from the University of Reading with a first class in BA Economics. Currently, I am finishing my postgraduate degree in MSc Politics of Population, Migration and Ecology at Birkbeck College, University of London.
I have two years experience in tutoring. I have tutored AS and A Level Economics, as well as pre-GCSE and GCSE English Language. I have tutored students from varying backgrounds and abilities, as well as students with learning and behavioural difficulties. These experiences have been enabled me to approach tutoring sessions in a compassionate way.
My teaching style will be tailored to fit with the needs of the student. The introductory session will evaluate the student’s learning style, in order to design a comprehensive set of lessons that aim to optimise their learning opportunities. The lesson content will closely adhere to the exam board’s requirements, in order to maximise the student’s grade potential. However, I also believe that tutoring can empower students to take the lead on their knowledge passions, so another aim of my lessons is to instil confidence into the student. I am a calm tutor who appreciates that students have different abilities and needs. I provide supplementary material for post-lessons and there is an expectation to review this material, although there are no consequences if the student does not consult the supplementary material.
Ultimately, I want to encourage learning, confidence and curiosity amongst all of my students.
