About Dan
I graduated from The University of Rhode Island after receiving a partial scholarship, for articles published in their campus newspaper and literary magazine. I was elected Managing Editor of their art and literary magazine (The Great Swamp Gazette) for four years in a row, and won two writing awards for short fiction. I've had articles published in The Providence Journal, The Narragansett Times, and The Westerly Sun. I was a private tutor at Woodstock Academy in 1999, teaching history and writing.

My approach as a tutor is to try and make reading and writing fun, and my specialty is with high school students. I explain how communicating and comprehension are so important, and how writing represents who you are. I'm especially geared toward the high school level, whereas I can fully demonstrate the power of communication through their experiences, and how it plays such an important role in our lives. My lesson plan would be built around their weak areas, and what the student finds particularly daunting. I find ways to approach these challenges in a fun way, and make it seem less like work.
