About Oscar
I am a University educated musician with a first class honours degree from Liverpool Hope University. I teach both electric and acoustic guitar and can cover a wide range of musical styles including pop, rock, jazz, folk and metal. I have experience teaching a variety of students and accept pupils from any ability level, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced, and of any age from 5 to 85.

The lessons offered will be highly individualised, tailored to the needs of each particular student. My main objective is supporting pupils in developing their own personal voice on the instrument, and allowing them to pursue their own musical goals whilst ensuring they receive a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of guitar technique, which include:
For beginners:
Introduction to first position chords
Introduction to melodic playing
Basic scales (major, minor, pentatonic)
Introduction to improvisation
For intermediate players:
Introduction to Barre chords (major, minor, min7, dom7)
Additional scales (harmonic minor, melodic minor)
Introduction to modes
Introduction to extended chord types (maj7, maj9, min9, dim)
Soloing techniques and concepts
For advanced players:
Advanced improvisation concepts
Auxiliary scales (whole tone, octotonic, altered)
Slash chords and upper extension voicings
Advanced soloing techniques (sweep picking, alternate picking, legato)
Advanced modes
All of these concepts will be incorporated into the songs and musical genres that the pupil wishes to explore. My teaching style is warm, friendly and patient, creating an enjoyable and pressure free environment where students can feel relaxed and confident in their playing, allowing them to develop at their own pace.
