About Nick
My name is Nick Jay, and I am an experienced educator and creative professional with a passion for teaching English. With a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Distinction) and ongoing studies in a Master of Teaching, I bring a unique blend of literary expertise and pedagogical skill to the classroom.
I believe that I've always been a teacher at heart. Both my parents are English teachers, English was always my favourite subject in school, and I've successfully written and produced three independent and successful productions. I believe in the transformative power of storytelling and language to shape our understanding of the world and ourselves.
Whether analyzing texts, developing creative writing skills, or refining literacy fundamentals, my goal is to make English relevant, accessible, and exciting for all learners.

Each session combines practical creative writing exercises with in-depth text analysis to foster critical thinking, self-expression, and a deeper appreciation of literature. Using open discussion and guided questioning, I encourage students to share their interpretations and build confidence in articulating their ideas.
In the second half of the lesson, students apply their analytical insights to their own creative work. I provide structured prompts aligned with the text’s themes or techniques, encouraging students to experiment with voice, perspective, and structure. During this process, I offer individualized feedback, celebrating strengths and suggesting areas for growth.
