About Elena
I am still very interested in all three sciences and am planning to study physics at university- although I did not continue the others through to A level, my love for them has not suffered and I still take great pleasure from being able to carry on pursuing them through passing on my knowledge to others. Academics aside, I am a passionate drum player, am part of competition winning debate and rowing teams of my school, and maintain a love for reading despite my STEM related specialities. All of these things come together to form the love I have for teaching- my past students have told me that I clarified many things on a basic level their teachers weren’t able to. I think that is because I myself passed the same subject courses they were then studying and remember why I did not understand certain things, and most importantly how I surpassed that. I myself am a very easygoing person- keeping a completely stress-free and comfortable environment is something I prioritise strongly in my lessons.

Usually my lessons run 1 hour, however this can vary to your choosing. Over 3 years of experience teaching children from 7 to 16 years old, I have gained incredible insight and enthusiasm for my job, which has only been reinforced by the positive feedback I have had from my students. I can help your children with their homework assignments, coach them through the 11+ and/or GCSE curriculum or offer general academic support in the form of my own exercises. Homework can also be given if you so choose, and I do not mind marking work outside of lesson time, as long as it is in reasonable moderation. My teaching aim most frequently is to follow the strict curriculum of an exam board and trying to build my students’ confidence in designing their answers around a specific vocabulary-orientated mark scheme. It has proven to be very effective so far in my history of tutoring GCSE students in particular.

Elena is a very friendly, approachable and incredibly dedicated tutor who is highly skilled at maths. She can make tricky concepts comprehensible which is difficult to find in a tutor. Would highly recommend!
Elena is honestly an incredible tutor. I have always struggled with maths, and by the end of year 10, I was predicted a 5, and my teachers doubted I’d even get that. But then, my parents hired Elena. She taught me so much, and was kind and understanding as I struggled my way through all the maths topics. But it was all worth it in the end: I actually scored a 9. I have never done so well in maths in my life, and now, thanks to Elena, I’ve decided to pursue a career as an engineer.
