About Alisha
I am a mathematics tutor with over 5 years of teaching experience and hold a Master’s in Mathematics. My passion extends beyond formulas and equations—I am deeply fascinated by the history of mathematics and how mathematical thought has evolved over time. I love exploring how ancient civilisations, from the Babylonians to the Greeks, contributed to the ideas we study today. I enjoy tracing the origins of famous theorems and uncovering the stories behind mathematical discoveries. Each concept has a cultural and intellectual journey, and I guide my students to appreciate these connections. Understanding mathematics this way makes learning more meaningful and engaging. In my sessions, I highlight how numbers, geometry, and patterns shaped human civilisation and thought. I encourage curiosity about why and how mathematical ideas emerged. Together, we examine the context in which discoveries were made, exploring both triumphs and challenges. My teaching approach in mathematics is gentle, reflective, and focused on deep conceptual understanding. I emphasise understanding the "why" behind every theorem, rather than just memorising formulas. I support DIY learners and independent researchers in exploring their own methods and strategies for solving complex problems. Together, we discover creative ways to approach challenging proofs and abstract ideas. My sessions encourage curiosity and experimentation, helping students see mathematics as a dynamic and flexible discipline. Assignments, exam preparation, and problem-solving are approached in a structured yet adaptable way, tailored to each student’s strengths and learning style. I focus on nurturing critical thinking and logical reasoning so students can confidently tackle higher-level mathematics. Step by step, students learn to break down complex problems into understandable parts. The goal is not just to teach but to inspire students to think mathematically in new ways. I help them build their confidence, develop independent problem-solving skills, and achieve excellence in both coursework and exams.
