About Briar
I’m a Maths tutor with over 3 years of experience and a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science. I focus on helping students improve their mathematical communication and exposition skills. My goal is to make complex concepts clear and understandable. I break down difficult ideas into simple, logical steps so students can follow and grasp them easily. I also work closely with students on writing coherent mathematical arguments. Whether it’s for essays, research papers, or presentations, I guide them in organising their thoughts clearly and presenting their solutions effectively. I believe that strong communication is just as important as solving the problems correctly. Over the years, I’ve helped many students gain confidence in explaining their reasoning both verbally and in writing. I enjoy seeing them grow from unsure to articulate and self-assured. Together, we practice expressing ideas clearly, making math less intimidating and more approachable. I’m passionate about supporting students at all levels. My teaching approach to Maths is relaxed, practical, and deeply connected to real-world applications. I help students see how mathematical thinking applies directly to coding, algorithms, and computational logic. Whether it’s understanding functions in calculus or patterns in discrete mathematics, I use clear programming analogies that make abstract ideas more relatable. I specialise in topics like logic building, algorithmic thinking, and problem-solving frameworks that are essential in computer science. My sessions often connect math concepts with their applications in coding and digital systems. We explore how equations work like code, and how proofs resemble debugging. This helps students understand not just what to do—but why it works. I guide learners in developing both precision and creativity. I’m especially strong with students who love building structures (Architects) or questioning deeply (Proof Seekers). My goal is to support them in expressing their ideas clearly and solving problems confidently. We build a space where it's okay to ask, try, fail, and learn. Students are encouraged to speak freely about their thought process. Through consistent practice and open discussion, I help them excel—not just in exams, but in thinking like a true problem solver.
