About Sodik

Hi, I’m Kazeem Sodik Isola, an experienced Mathematics and Physics tutor and a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where I earned a Second-Class Upper degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Over the years, I have taught students across different age groups, academic levels and educational systems, both online and in-person. My teaching experience includes working with students following British, Nigerian, American, Canadian, Australian and Scottish curricula, including WJEC, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, National 5 (Nat 5), SAT, WAEC, NECO and JAMB.

I also gained valuable teaching experience through the Physics and Engineering Physics Parent-Assisted Tutorial at OAU, Ile-Ife, where I supported students in developing stronger mathematical and physics foundations.

My approach to teaching is simple: understanding comes before memorisation. I break difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps and use worked examples, practical applications and carefully selected questions to help students develop confidence and independent problem-solving skills.

Whether you are struggling with the basics, preparing for an important examination, or looking to move to a more advanced level, I tailor each lesson to your current ability, learning pace and academic goals. I cover topics ranging from arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics to trigonometry, calculus and other advanced areas of mathematics.

As an online tutor, I make lessons interactive and structured rather than simply giving answers. My aim is to help you understand why a method works, know when to use it, and eventually solve problems independently.

I have worked with students from different backgrounds and educational systems, and I understand that no two learners are exactly the same. That is why I adapt my explanations and teaching strategies to suit each student.

If you are looking for a patient, knowledgeable and results-focused Mathematics tutor, I would be happy to work with you.

Book a trial lesson, tell me what you are currently working on, and let’s build a clear plan towards your academic goals.

About the lessons

My lessons are designed to make Mathematics clear, structured and engaging, whether you are building your foundations, preparing for an examination, or studying Mathematics at a more advanced level.

I teach pupils and students both online and in person, adapting each lesson to the learner’s current level, curriculum and academic goals. I work with students following different educational systems, including British, Nigerian, American, Canadian, Australian and Scottish curricula.

For online lessons, I use a combination of digital whiteboards, visual explanations, videos, audio explanations, worked examples and step-by-step written solutions to make difficult concepts easier to understand. I do not simply provide answers; I guide students through the reasoning behind each solution so they can develop genuine understanding and become more confident solving problems independently.

I also use Google Classroom to organise learning materials, assignments and lesson resources, while Google Forms can be used for quizzes, assessments and regular progress checks.

Depending on your needs, lessons can include:

• Concept explanation and revision
• Step-by-step worked examples
• Exam-style questions and past-paper practice
• Homework and assignments
• Quizzes and progress assessments
• Identification and correction of common mistakes
• Targeted preparation for upcoming examinations
• Extension work for students who want to challenge themselves

For students interested in Engineering, Physics or other STEM-related fields, I also place emphasis on developing the mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills needed for further study.

My goal is not simply to help you get through the next test. I want you to understand the mathematics well enough to approach unfamiliar problems with confidence.

Bring your questions, your current level and your goals. We’ll work from there.

  • When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in mathematics since my high school days. I helped a lot of student struggling with mathematics, physics, chemistry and further mathematics during my high school days. I quickly noticed that a lot of students needed help but they were either too shy to ask questions in class during lectures, or they didn't have a good background in calculative and reasoning analysis.
So, I figured that one-to-one lessons will allow the students more freedom to ask questions, and make them more grounded in several areas of mathematics.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach mathematics, physics and electrical and electronics engineering courses, I studied electrical and electronics engineering at the University level and this makes me more grounded in mathematical and physics-related courses. This is especially relevant since I took mathematics and physics courses as standalone courses before moving to my department.

Mathematics and Physics are very interesting subjects, they are one of the major branches of physical sciences which help in the development of technology. I help students to understand the following:

    Mathematics
    1. Algebra
    2. Number and Numeration
    3. Calculus
    4. Circle Geometry
    5. Polynomials
    6. Partial Fraction
    7. Matrice
    8. Trigonometry
    9. Graph Analysis
    10. Number Theory
    11. Statistics
    12. Probability
    13. Complex Number
    14. Differential etc.

    Physics
    1. Motion
    2. Heat
    3. Measurements
    4. Electric Circuit
    5. Wave
    6. Relativity
    7. Resistance and Resistivity
    8. Conductor
    9. magnetic field
    10. electric field
    12. Electromagnetic Field
    13. Pressure
    14. Momentum
    15. Force Field
    16. Equilibrium
    17. Work Energy and Power etc.

I usually stay away from biology, I have never really enjoyed the course for some reason but I can still hold my own if I ever need to teach it.
  • Did you have any role models?

Yes I had a role model. Mr Owolabi was my role model, he was my secondary school teacher and he was my personal home lesson teacher, I got all my teaching skills from him. He is very calm when he teaches and he explains difficult concept with really simple and understandable language.
  • What do you think are the qualities of a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor must have the following qualities:
    1. Calmness and patience
    2. Adaptation to the needs of every student
    3. Proper feedback skills
    4. Loving
    5. Professionalism
    6. The ability to explain hard concepts in simple terms
    7. Empathy
    8. Motivation
    9. Enthusiasm
    10. Humility
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your subject or your student days?

Hmmm, I usually say this to my student, "Prepare hard before going for any exam and don't always prepare at the late hour thinking you are smart and can comprehend a lot of information in the last minute."

I missed a test during my undergraduate days because I slept off 10 mins to the test and I woke up 5 mins to the end of the paper. This was due to the stress I had put myself through while trying to comprehend a lot of information right before the test.
So, my advise is that students should try to always prepare for exams long before the exam or test day. Don't overstress yourself on the examination day, you need that period for resting and ruminating on what you have previously read. Funnily, I was not allowed to write a makeup test and I had a 57C in the final exam. If I had done the test, I may have had a B or an A grade.
  • Did you face any difficulties at school or university?

I experienced no difficulties until towards the end of my days in school. I started a tutorial center for struggling students in mathematics and physics, and this affected my final year grades and didn't allow me to obtain a first class degree.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

I have passion for playing football, I love football and I represented my department and faculty in several competitions where I won several gold and silver medals.
I also represented my platoon during NYSC and I also won a gold medal for that. So, apart from teaching, playing football is my hobby.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

What makes me a Superprof is my attention to detail and my dedication to help every client be a better version of themselves at the end of every teaching session.
As a Superprof, my success only occurs when my students can boast success in their courses due to my tutelage.
