About Ivy
I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching goes beyond traditional boundaries by exploring the fascinating intersection of physics, art, and restoration. I focus on how light interacts with pigments and materials, helping students understand the science behind the colours and textures in artworks. This interdisciplinary approach connects physics with art history and conservation science. I use real art historical examples to explain concepts clearly and engagingly. I also introduce principles of non-destructive testing, which allow us to study precious artworks without causing damage. My lessons cover the physical properties of art materials and how they change over time. This knowledge is especially useful for art history students, conservationists, and anyone curious about the science of cultural heritage. Working with these diverse learners has deepened my passion for applying physics to preserve artistic masterpieces. I believe understanding the science behind art enriches our appreciation of culture and history. Together, we explore how physics helps protect and restore valuable heritage. My goal is to inspire curiosity and respect for both science and art. My teaching approach in Physics is systematic and clear. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple parts. This helps students understand macroscopic behaviours like thermodynamics, heat transfer, states of matter, and gas laws. I believe in building a strong foundation of core principles first. With this foundation, students can easily grasp more difficult topics. I use real-life examples and experiments to make learning interesting and practical. This hands-on approach helps students see how physics works in everyday life. I provide consistent feedback to track progress and address doubts quickly. My lessons are organised to build knowledge step-by-step. This way, students gain confidence and clarity. I support students in excelling by encouraging questions and exploring concepts deeply. Together, we develop a solid understanding of energy and its role in physical processes. My goal is to help students not only pass exams but truly master the subject. With patience and practice, success becomes achievable.
