About Hunter
I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of teaching experience and an MPhil in Physics. My approach is holistic and interdisciplinary, connecting physics to art, conservation, and cultural heritage. I focus on how light interacts with pigments, the physical properties of materials, and principles of material analysis for art restoration. I incorporate art historical examples to make lessons engaging and relevant. Students learn how non-destructive testing methods can reveal hidden details in paintings and sculptures. My sessions often explore the science behind conservation techniques, helping students understand how artworks are preserved for future generations. I have worked with art history students, conservation professionals, and anyone curious about the physics underlying artistic masterpieces. Lessons emphasise practical applications, from spectroscopy to imaging techniques, linking theory directly to real-world problems in art preservation. I aim to make physics accessible, meaningful, and exciting through its connection to culture. Students gain both conceptual understanding and hands-on insights into material properties and analytical methods. By the end of each session, they see how physics can unlock secrets hidden in layers of paint and structure. I believe that understanding the science behind art enhances appreciation and informs preservation. My goal is to inspire curiosity, analytical thinking, and a deep respect for cultural heritage. Together, we explore how physics helps protect and understand humanity’s artistic achievements. If you want, I can also create a slightly more concise, punchy version that’s optimised to grab attention on a tutoring platform while keeping the same interdisciplinary and warm tone. Do you want me to do that?

My teaching approach is relaxed, interactive, and focused on making physics relevant to real-world applications. I cover core physics topics as well as areas directly related to engineering, including materials science, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and statics and dynamics in structures. I believe in linking theoretical concepts to practical problems so students can see how physics drives engineering designs. I use examples from real engineering projects to help students understand complex ideas. Assignments and exercises are designed to build problem-solving skills and critical thinking. I emphasise clarity and simplicity, ensuring that difficult concepts become easy to grasp. Computational methods are also integrated to show how modern physics supports practical engineering solutions. I support students in applying physics to design challenges, experiments, and simulations. Whether it’s exam preparation or understanding advanced topics, the focus is on excelling and gaining confidence. Lessons are flexible and adapted to each student’s pace and learning style. Discussions often include practical applications to highlight relevance in careers. My goal is to make physics exciting, useful, and directly connected to engineering work. Together, we explore ideas, solve problems, and strengthen understanding. I ensure that students not only learn physics but also know how to apply it effectively.
