My teaching philosophy revolves around Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) paired with Structured Functional Morphology. I do not teach language in a vacuum; I teach it as a living, breathing tool for human connection.
• The "Root-to-Leaf" Structural Method: Filipino is a highly agglutinative language. Instead of making you memorize 100 random vocabulary words, I teach you one root word (e.g., basa - read) and the geometric prefixes/suffixes (mag-, um-, -in) that unlock its forms. This mathematically multiplies your vocabulary overnight.
• The Guided Focus Transition: The Filipino verb focus system (Actor vs. Object focus) is notoriously difficult for non-native speakers. I use visual color-coded syntax maps to help your brain instantly recognize which particle (ang, ng, or sa) anchors the sentence.
• The 80/20 Conversational Rule: You will be speaking Filipino from day one. I keep my teacher-talking-time to a minimum (20%) so you have maximum space (80%) to practice production, make mistakes, and build muscle memory.
