About Sarah
I am a dedicated Film and Media educator with nearly two decades of experience inspiring students across a wide range of courses. After completing my Masters in Film Studies, I began doctoral research as a PhD candidate focusing on Film in Education, exploring the ways screen culture can be used to support learning. Over the course of my career, I have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students and guiding them towards success in both their academic studies and creative projects. My commitment to high-quality teaching and innovation in the classroom was recognised nationally when I was shortlisted for Into Film’s Teacher of the Year award in both 2018 and 2019. Alongside teaching, I have contributed to developing students’ skills in critical thinking, creativity, and communication - qualities that extend beyond the classroom and into higher education and professional life. I am passionate about making Film and Media accessible and engaging for all learners, from those encountering the subject for the first time to those pursuing advanced research at university level. I take pride in fostering curiosity and encouraging students to see the wider cultural, social, and historical significance of the media they study and create.

My lessons are fully tailored to the needs of each student. I use a supportive, step-by-step approach that combines clear explanations, practical examples, and guided practice. I place a strong focus on developing analytical skills, essay writing, and exam technique, while also encouraging creativity and independent thinking. Lessons are interactive and engaging, designed to build confidence as well as knowledge. Most lessons last one hour, although 90-minute sessions are available for students who prefer more in-depth support, particularly at A level or degree level. I have 19 years of teaching experience in Further Education, specialising in Film and Media. I am a PhD candidate and have taught across a wide range of courses, including GCSE, A Level, BTEC, UAL, HNC and HND. In addition, I provide support for undergraduate and postgraduate students, including dissertation guidance and proofreading. Who the Lessons Are For: GCSE and A Level students who want to improve their understanding of theory, strengthen their exam skills, or get extra help with coursework. Vocational learners (BTEC, UAL, HNC/HND) who need guidance with both creative production and academic writing. Undergraduate and postgraduate students who require support with research, structuring essays, or dissertation supervision. Learners aged 14+ to adult, with lessons tailored to ability, goals, and confidence levels.
