About Murron
I am a final year student at the University of St Andrews studying for an MA (Hons) in English Literature. Having taken essay writing subjects throughout University and for A Levels, and achieving high marks in these exams, I have developed techniques over the years for achieving high grades in English. I have been sharing these techniques and helping to build up pupils' confidence in English over the past few years as a Tutor with many successes. I have taught both individual sessions as well as 3:1 classes on MyTutor, and have taught students ranging from Years 8-13. I enjoy helping students reach their potentials by teaching them about exam technique and how to attain more marks in each question, which makes the exams appear more manageable, and builds up the students' confidence over time.

With 3 years worth of tutoring experience I have developed my methodology to make it extremely personalised to the student, so they can reach their specific goals, and address their problem areas in English. I like to use fun activities to keep the students engaged, but always link the tasks back to exam technique, to enable them to obtain the top marks. I focus on the marking criteria for their specific exam board to help explain to the students easy tips to picking up extra marks in their answers. I also focus a lot on essay writing technique and structuring paragraphs, so that the student can express their ideas clearly and fluently. Consolidating knowledge is key to my approach, and each session links to the next to keep the student recapping previously taught material.
