About Gemma
Hi! I'm Gemma, a final-year NUS Law student with a genuine love for writing and language. I held the MOE Humanities Scholarship at Raffles Institution, was part of the Raffles Humanities Programme, and scored an A for GP at A Levels — so I know exactly what examiners are looking for, and how to get you there.
At NUS, I was awarded the Michael Hor Book Prize for top student in my Freedom of Speech module — a course built around constructing sharp, well-reasoned arguments. That's exactly the skill I help my students develop.
I believe good writing is something anyone can learn with the right guidance. I take the time to understand each student's strengths and gaps, and work with them closely — not just to improve their grades, but to genuinely build their confidence in expressing ideas clearly and compellingly.
Whether you're preparing for exams or crafting a personal statement, I'd love to help!

My lessons are structured, feedback-driven, and tailored to each student. For English and GP, I focus on essay architecture, precise argumentation, and developing an analytical voice — skills that transfer across exams and beyond. Sessions typically run 1.5 to 2 hours and are suited to Secondary, JC, and IB students.
For personal statements, I guide students through finding their narrative, sharpening their prose, and presenting themselves compellingly — whether for UK, US, or local university applications.
Every lesson includes concrete written feedback so students leave knowing exactly what to improve and how.
