About Abigail
My name is Abbi, and I am a first-class Biomedical Science graduate from the University of Warwick. I achieved 9A*'s and 2A's, the highest GCSE outcome in my cohort. I studied Philosophy, Biology and Chemistry at A-Level.
Currently, I work full-time in Mental Health research alongside tutoring part-time. However, from August onwards I intend to begin studying Graduate Medicine at King's College London.

I discovered my enthusiasm for teaching in Year 12 whilst being employed as a Tutor at Oak Heights Independent School. I taught Biology and Chemistry at GCSE Level to a group of students every Saturday for three months. I loved sharing scientific knowledge in creative and engaging ways and helping the students to build their confidence in applying their knowledge to exam questions. I have taught English informally and weekly as a volunteer for STAR – Student Action for Refugees for two academic years from 2019-to 2021. Since March of 2022, I have tutored Biology and Chemistry GCSE and A-Level across various curriculums, including AQA and OCR at MyTutor. I also have experience mentoring students in university, which has entailed responsibilities such as assisting with internship applications.
I have sat the UCAT exam and scored in the top 1% nationally (3240, SJT Band 1). I appreciate how preparing for the UCAT can be a new and daunting experience. Nonetheless, I am enthusiastic about helping students to feel confident tackling the exam and achieving their target scores.
Lessons can be 1 or 2 hours long. My teaching style is tailored, I strive to accommodate the unique learning style of the specific student I am teaching. Learning is not one size fits all!
I ensure lessons are interactive through, quizzes, videos, worksheets and mind maps, so the student can keep engaged and I can learn more about the student’s knowledge, gaps and challenging topics. In turn, I can better tailor the lessons to their needs.
The ultimate goal is to help students understand the content before tackling questions together to build their confidence for past papers and, eventually, their exams!
