About Sam
I am a recent English Literature and Creative Writing graduate from the University of Lancaster. I achieved a First Class degree and a 100% grade for my dissertation. At A-Level, I achieved 3 A*'s in English Literature, History, and Religious Studies. While I have no formal experience in tutoring, at school I was frequently asked to assist younger students with their essay writing skills.
While I was in Lower Sixth, in doing three essay subjects I discovered that similar skills in persuasive writing could be applied to all three subjects, so I recognised that as long as I had a firm understanding of the content I needed to know, I would be capable of doing well in the exam hall. If you know exactly what the examiners are looking for, and can apply key skills to your essays, you will be sure to succeed!

My approach to tutoring is primarily focused around essay writing. Ultimately, to do well in your GCSE or A-level exams, you need a very solid understanding of essay structure, writing persuasively, and effectively providing textual evidence to support your claims. As such, I will begin by reading your essays and identifying areas for potential improvement. Subsequently, I will teach you a number of methods for structuring your essays, improving your argumentation. Additionally, I will also help you identify important textual features which you can use to bolster your claims, including certain methods that typically aren't covered until university level, thereby ensuring that your work not only meets the requirements of the mark scheme, but exceeds them.
