About Cathy
I adore working with young people, and have been doing so for a number of years. I strongly believe that reading and writing are skills that are integral not only to a child's cognitive development, but to their creative development and self-belief. As a child, I struggled with socialising, but writing helped me find a way to express myself and develop my communication and social skills. I am also a big fan of foreign languages, as I believe they help us explore our own language with an enlightened sensibility.

Lessons lengths can be adaptable, though I have found that for tutoring young people, 45 minutes is the best length for holding their attention. Generally, my tutees decide how we tackle each lesson: if there is a particular piece of homework they are struggling with, we can go over it during the session, or if there is a particular area of their subject in which they are struggling, I can plan a lesson based on that area. I generally work with young people from 14-18 years old, but would be open to tutoring any age group.
