About Cecilia
I am a 24 years old, living in Kensington, who loves teaching and working with children. I am currently a nanny for a 12 year old girl and I tutor her and her siblings.
I'm very passionate about Science Communication, I'm starting a master's in it at Imperial College London in September so I am an effective communicator and have a passion for teaching and learning.
In my GCSEs, achieved 6 A* and 4 As (A* in all subjects I'm offering to teach) and I did the IB, achieving 40/45 with higher level Biology, Geography and Chemistry.

I am a First Class Natural Sciences graduate specialising in Biology, offering engaging and supportive tutoring for GCSE, A-Level, and IB students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Geography. My aim is to help students build confidence, deepen understanding, and develop strong exam technique so they can achieve their best results. I am starting a master's in Science Communication in September at Imperial College London.
Teaching Methodology & Techniques:
My lessons focus on active learning and clear understanding, rather than memorisation. I tailor each session to the student’s learning style and school syllabus, using techniques such as:
-Breaking complex topics into clear, logical steps
-Visual explanations, diagrams, and real-world examples to make concepts stick
-Practice questions and exam-style problems to build confidence with assessment formats
-Retrieval practice and quick quizzes to reinforce knowledge
-Encouraging students to explain concepts back to me, strengthening understanding and recall
Because of my experience working closely with young people, I create a supportive, relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while learning.
Typical Lesson Structure:
Lessons are usually 60 minutes, though 90-minute sessions are available for older students or intensive exam preparation. A typical lesson includes:
-A quick review of previous material
-Clear explanation of the new topic
-Guided practice questions together
-Independent exam-style questions with feedback
-I also help students develop revision strategies, study skills, and exam technique.
Qualifications & Experience:
-First Class Degree in Natural Sciences (Biology specialisation)
-Experience working with young people through nannying, teaching sailing and windsurfing, and leading canoe expeditions at summer camps
-Strong background in science communication and research
-Experienced in explaining complex ideas in clear and engaging ways
