About Corynne
Hi! I’m a Biology major at Florida State University with a 3.8 GPA, and I tutor middle and high school students in chemistry, biology, genetics, algebra, and geometry. I know that these subjects can sometimes feel overwhelming or confusing, and my goal is to help you feel more confident and comfortable with the material you’re learning in class.
I focus on making lessons clear, supportive, and personalized to how you learn best. We’ll take things step by step, slow things down when needed, and use visuals, examples, and explanations that actually make sense. If something hasn’t clicked before, that’s okay, we’ll figure out a new way to approach it together.
I also have hands-on laboratory and genetics training through a college-level certification from the University of Florida, which means I have a strong background in the subjects I teach and real experience applying them. More importantly, I know how to explain complex topics in a way that’s easy to understand and not intimidating.
My lessons are meant to be a safe, encouraging space where you can ask questions, make mistakes, and learn without pressure. I want you to leave each session feeling more confident in yourself and more prepared for class, homework, and exams. I am excited to work with you!

My approach as a tutor is highly personalized and focused on helping students truly understand the material rather than memorizing it. At the start of each lesson, I identify the specific topics or homework problems the student is currently working on in class. We then work through these problems together step by step, using clear explanations and visual support such as drawings or shared screen work to make complex ideas easier to understand.
As we work, I closely observe where the student begins to feel unsure or stuck. Once those problem areas are identified, I reinforce the concept by introducing similar practice problems. This allows the student to broaden their understanding, build confidence, and eventually complete problems independently rather than relying on memorization.
For more descriptive or content-heavy subjects, such as biology or genetics, I create organized, easy-to-understand notes alongside the student. These notes are tailored to how the student learns best, whether that is visual, verbal, or written, which we discuss during our initial meeting. Students can then use these notes to study later, convert them into flashcards, or add them to existing study sets.
A typical lesson includes:
-Reviewing current class material or homework
-Identifying gaps in understanding
-Working through examples together using visuals and guided explanation
-Practicing similar problems independently with support
-Creating personalized notes or study tools when needed
What sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on how each student learns. Rather than following a rigid format, I adapt each lesson to match the student’s strengths and learning preferences. My goal is not only to improve grades, but to help students feel confident and capable in the classroom. I believe when students begin to perform well because they truly understand the material, they become more motivated, engaged, and willing to learn.
My lessons are designed for middle and high school students studying chemistry, biology, genetics, algebra, or geometry. I work with students of varying skill levels, including those who feel overwhelmed by the material or simply want to strengthen their understanding and confidence. My ultimate goal is to make learning feel manageable, rewarding, and even enjoyable.
