As a French tutor, I believe in a personalized, student-centered approach that adapts to each individual's learning style and pace. I combine traditional methods with interactive, immersive techniques to keep lessons engaging and effective. My focus is on communication, so I encourage students to speak French as much as possible during lessons, even from the very first class. I also integrate listening exercises, reading comprehension, and cultural insights to provide a holistic understanding of the language, making learning more enjoyable and practical.
To ensure that students develop a strong foundation in both grammar and conversation, I use a mix of:
Task-based learning: Using real-world scenarios to practice French in context (e.g., ordering food in a restaurant, traveling, etc.)
Visual aids and media: Videos, songs, and news clips to reinforce listening skills and expose students to authentic French.
Interactive grammar exercises: Simplifying complex grammar concepts through engaging activities and targeted drills.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson is structured to provide a balanced mix of skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—with a focus on whichever area the student needs to improve most. A typical lesson would look like this:
Warm-up (5-10 minutes): We start with a brief review of the previous lesson, focusing on vocabulary or phrases learned.
New Topic Introduction (15-20 minutes): I introduce a new topic (e.g., a specific tense, vocabulary set, or conversational scenario) using interactive methods.
Practice & Application (15-20 minutes): We move into exercises—whether role-plays, listening activities, or written tasks—to apply the new material in context.
Review & Recap (5-10 minutes): We wrap up by reviewing key takeaways, discussing any difficulties, and setting goals for the next lesson.
For each lesson, I also provide materials for practice outside of class, such as worksheets, reading exercises, or short writing tasks to reinforce what was learned.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What makes me unique as a French tutor is my emphasis on making learning practical and fun. I focus on real-world French and aim to make each lesson a conversation rather than a lecture. Whether you want to be able to chat with native speakers, watch French movies without subtitles, or travel to France with confidence, I tailor lessons specifically to meet your goals.
I am patient and flexible, adjusting to your pace and ensuring that you feel comfortable with the material before moving on. I also bring cultural insights into every lesson, helping you understand the language not just in grammar terms, but in the context of French-speaking cultures.
Who the Lessons Are For
These lessons are designed for anyone looking to learn or improve their French skills, whether you're:
A beginner just starting to learn French or someone looking to refresh basic knowledge.
An intermediate learner wanting to improve conversation skills and refine grammar.
An advanced student preparing for fluency, needing more nuanced conversation practice or specific language goals (e.g., business French, literature, or academic French).
Students preparing for exams like the DELF/DALF or high school French exams, where I can focus on exam strategies and review key topics.
