About Emma

Hi! My name is Emma Varela Cuartero, a dedicated tutor specialising in GCSE Spanish, English Literature and History. I am a recent A-Level graduate hoping to read History at UCL in September. As a native Spanish speaker, raised and educated in England I have a strong command of both Spanish and English, enabling me to support students in achieving fluency and confidence in speaking to achieve ultimate academic success. Currently completing my A-levels with predicted grades of A* in English Literature, A* in History and A in Psychology, I have first-hand experience of the dedication required to get top grades. Having recently completed my own GCSEs, I understand the challenges students face when trying to improve their performance. I believe that identifying both strengths and areas for development is key to academic progress, and I tailor my lessons to each individual needs. My aim is to build confidence in students, enabling them to reach their full potential.

About the lesson

I offer personalised 60 minute online lessons for GCSE Spanish, English Literature, and History. Having achieved Grade 9s in all of these subjects myself, I understand exactly what examiners are looking for and how students can maximise their marks.

My teaching style is supportive and engaging, tailored to each student’s strengths and weaknesses. After identifying these I will use them to create lessons tailored to the student. I use a combination of guided exam-style questions and explanations of topics that the student might struggle with. Furthermore, I am committed to providing constructive feedback to students to help them make consistent progress.

For GCSE Spanish, as a native fluent Spanish speaker, I can provide authentic language practice and pronunciation guidance. I focus on improving the skills required for speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. For English and History, I help students strengthen their analytical skills and essay writing to develop exam technique and achieve top grades.
