About Kaya
Communication can happen through many mediums besides just words and one of the greatest we have been gifted is music. This art form is very dear to me and it can be enjoyable and enriching for everybody as long as their development is nurtured in a sustainable way. I strive to support and keep passion alive throughout every lesson, composition, performance, and all of the other moments of life!
Music is wonderful and should be taken seriously, but we also must have fun with it or else what would be the point? There is room within each of us to enjoy things for the rigor they inspire, and enjoy things for the sake of enjoyment itself.

Whether you are preparing for college auditions, or learning how to make a sound, each musician has a voice. With lessons, I will provide a set of tools for each student so they have the technical and musical capabilities to express themselves fully, in whatever way excites them!
We all learn in different ways, and as a teacher, my goal is to find what I can do on an individual basis to explain concepts clearly, provide helpful feedback, and bring out the best in all of my students.
Lesson schedule 1:
5-10 minute warm up or work on fundamentals of air and sound.
~ 30 minutes working on a piece, scales, etudes or something else you wanted to bring to the lesson.
~ 20 minutes working on technique or going through exercises that will help your piece, etudes, or songs you are working on.
Lesson schedule 2:
5-10 minute warm up of a tone exercise or an improvisation on some feelings you had throughout the day.
15-20 minutes on ear training with songs you like, or songs you want to learn.
20-30 minutes on technique work that serves your playing style and specific goals. If you want to learn how to play quickly we can do various scale exercises to increase finger dexterity. If you want to increase your expressive range, we can do vowel exercises to help you gain more options to manipulate your timbre.
Technique will be developed as the student develops their musicality and will be focused on as much as the piece of music they are working on requires it.
Each lesson will be different for every student as everyone has different goals, but I'm sure we can find the lesson that works best for you!
