About Kent
My journey with the flute began 7 years ago, inspired by its ability to convey emotion and nuance through tone and phrasing. I completed formal studies in woodwind performance, ensemble work, and music interpretation, which strengthened both technical ability and expressive depth. Teaching became a natural extension of this journey, allowing me to share knowledge while guiding students toward expressive mastery. Working with learners of diverse backgrounds enhanced my adaptability, patience, and ability to tailor instruction to each student’s strengths, ensuring effective and engaging lessons. I teach using a warm, structured, and personalized approach. Lessons integrate demonstration, technical exercises, repertoire, creative interpretation, and reflective discussion to help students develop both skill and artistry. I emphasize building confidence alongside technical precision, encouraging experimentation, self-expression, and a deep connection to musical narrative. Every student is supported in their learning goals, whether preparing for recitals, examinations, or personal enjoyment. Outside teaching, I continue performing, attending masterclasses, studying new repertoire, and refining my craft. Music has given me focus, resilience, and expressive insight, which I aim to share with students. My goal is to nurture technical mastery, artistic expression, and lasting passion for music in every learner.

Flute lessons with me offer an encouraging, structured, and creatively engaging environment where technical skill and expressive artistry develop in harmony. I guide learners through posture, breath support, embouchure, articulation, phrasing, dynamics, and interpretive musicality, ensuring a balance between foundational technique and artistic expression. Lessons incorporate story-driven exercises, tonal exploration, reflective practice, and musical interpretation to cultivate both skill and confidence. The goal is to help students develop expressive clarity, technical proficiency, and an authentic musical voice. My approach emphasizes patience, progressive skill-building, and nurturing each student’s artistic identity, allowing learners to enjoy the process while steadily achieving performance milestones and personal growth in musical expression.
Lessons are tailored for beginners, intermediate, and advanced flute players. Beginners focus on breath control, tone production, simple melodies, scales, and basic articulation to gain early success. Intermediate learners explore expressive shaping, vibrato, articulation nuance, scale extension, and repertoire interpretation. Advanced students refine technical agility, stylistic nuance, ensemble readiness, interpretive depth, and performance preparation for recitals or auditions. Weekly tasks include tone exercises, articulation drills, reflective listening, practice planning, and interpretive challenges, reinforcing both technical mastery and artistic insight. The curriculum ensures steady progress while fostering creativity and confidence.
Students often experience growth beyond musical technique. Many develop emotional awareness, self-discipline, resilience, and confidence in performance situations. Through structured lessons, constructive feedback, and creative guidance, learners build a meaningful connection to music, enabling them to communicate expressively and perform confidently. My aim is to help students feel capable, inspired, and proud of their musical accomplishments while developing a lifelong appreciation for expressive flute performance.
