About Knox
I am a flute tutor with 9 years of teaching experience, having successfully guided over 150 students across all levels. My approach focuses on blending technical mastery with creativity, helping students develop skills such as breath control, tone production, finger dexterity, and rhythm, while also encouraging improvisation and musical expression.
I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style and goals, making sure they progress confidently while enjoying the learning process. In addition to performance skills, I provide guidance in music theory, sight-reading, and ensemble participation, giving students a comprehensive understanding of music. My goal is to inspire students to play the flute with skill, confidence, and a lifelong passion for music.

I teach flute with a methodology focused on adaptability, encouragement, and collaboration. I recognise that each student has a unique learning style, and I design lessons to fit their pace, strengths, and interests. This ensures that students remain motivated while achieving steady progress.
Flexibility allows me to modify exercises, repertoire, and lesson plans according to each student’s goals and abilities. Collaboration is an important aspect of my teaching. Students participate in duets, group exercises, and ensemble sessions, building confidence, musical communication, and expressive skills. Positivity is at the heart of every lesson, creating a safe and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to experiment, overcome challenges, and celebrate successes.
Alongside flute techniques, I teach complementary subjects like music theory, ear training, rhythm exercises, and sight-reading. My methodology nurtures both technical and expressive development, helping students grow into well-rounded, confident musicians with a lifelong love for music.
