About Iris
I am a hardworking person who believes it is important to have a good work ethic and to work hard for her money. Have the ability to learn quickly and improve on skills I already have. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree at the University of Oregon. I received a B.S. from Portland State University with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Philosophy. I am the first to graduate from college in my family. My research interests are on holiday myths and how they relate to current cultural mindsets. I have taught Writing 121, an introduction to argumentative writing and critical inquiry. For this course, I teach the students important class themes and topics through a two-essay cycle. For this position I have created/done lesson plans, assignment prompts, rubrics, lead conferences, and grading. For fall term I was administrating online schooling for children in elementary school. I am assisting the families with their children's daily lesson plans of reading, writing, math, science, and art. I help keep a regular schedule and classroom environment to help the children continue their education during the pandemic.

My teaching method is to get to know the student's needs and be flexible to everyone's individual learning styles. I have worked with elementary-aged students and college ages students. Flexibility is important to learning, everyone learns differently and needs different accommodations.
