About Jasmine
Hi, I'm Jasmine! I have over four years of tutoring experience, a Master's degree in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science with First Class Honors from Heriot-Watt University in the UK.
My teaching journey began during my undergraduate studies, when I started offering private online Math and Statistics lessons. Since then, I've had the opportunity to teach students from the UK and Canada, including O-Level, A-Level, 11-12 grade, SAT Math, and undergraduate university students. Working with students from different educational backgrounds has helped me adapt my teaching style to different curricula, learning needs and academic goals.
I also worked as a Graduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley, where I taught Statistics and R programming to undergraduate students. During my master's degree, I earned a Certificate of Teaching in Higher Education, further strengthening my teaching skills.
Alongside tutoring, I currently work as an Actuarial Analyst, where I apply Mathematics and Statistics to real-world problems.
Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy! Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student go from struggling with a topic to confidently solving problems on their own. I believe that every student learns differently, and with the right guidance, patience and encouragement, even the most challenging concepts can become manageable.
My goal is not just to help students achieve better grades, but also to build their confidence, develop their problem-solving skills and make them genuinely enjoy learning Math and Statistics.

I believe learning Math and Statistics should be interactive, engaging and enjoyable. I prepare all my lectures in advance and tailor each session to the student's individual needs, learning pace and academic goals.
During my online lessons, I use an iPad and Apple Pencil to explain concepts, work through problems step by step and make the experience as close to an in-person classroom as possible. I share the notes back to students after lesson.
I encourage lively, interactive sessions where students feel completely comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and discussing their ideas. There is no such thing as a silly question in my lessons! I'm always happy to explain a concept in different ways and repeat a topic as many times as needed until the student fully understands it.
A typical lesson includes a review of key concepts, guided examples, practice questions and time for any doubts or questions. My goal is not just to help students find the correct answer, but to build their confidence and develop a strong understanding of the subject.
Whether you're a school student preparing for exams or a university student tackling more advanced Math, Statistics or Probability, I'll adapt my teaching approach to help you achieve your goals.
