About Tiffany
I have a degree in English with a minor in Business. I was a teacher for over 6 years (5+ years high school teacher) and am now finding new ways to utilize my teaching skills that give me more flexibility. I have high expectations of my students while remaining approachable to answer questions as needed and have strong anticipation for learning gaps. I believe in maintaining patience and shame has no place in my classroom! It's more important to ask the questions you need in order to move forward, even if you believe you should already know the answers. Inquiry is growth and it's better to catch up as opposed to falling further behind. Even teachers and tutors don't know everything, so it's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, if ever I don't know the answer to something, I will be sure to find an answer for you! We got this!

I am especially skilled in E2 STAAR prep, SAT prep, college admission essays, and resume writing.
I have experience teaching remotely, but am happy to meet at local coffee shops occasionally if in-person interactions are needed when revising and editing written work.
My teaching techniques involve a lot of differentiated learning methods by incorporating visuals and audio as needed, especially when teaching literature. I heavily use color coding and graphic organizers in teaching both reading and writing and provide broken-down step-by step processes to both analyzing literature and writing essays. Everyone learns differently and it's crucial you learn accordingly. Teachers do the best they can, but sometimes, in an overly saturated classroom size, it is difficult to get the one-on-one attention you need. I also believe in teaching you new ways to retain information and research to become a more independent learner moving forward despite whatever your learning style is. This is the ultimate goal of any good teacher.
