Former ESL assistant for middle schoolers. I am a Portuguese native speaker. Current college student taking Brazilian Portuguese as a second language. I love helping students and watching them learn.

About Kimberly
As I grew up with a Brazilian native family, all I heard around the house was Portuguese. When I got to school I learned English little by little and enjoyed every bit of it. By the age of 15, my bilingual teacher was so impressed they asked me to be an ESL assistant at my former middle school and help students after school. I took up the offer and have never regretted it since. Not only did teaching ESL students like myself help them, but it improved me as a student too. A year later, I was known as the grammar guru in high school. My English teachers loved me and were always so impressed. Lastly, I took my English writing placement test to get into college and placed a 4, the highest grade you could achieve as an incoming freshman. I was placed in an advanced English course in college and finished all my English and writing requirements during my Freshman year in college.

Depending on what the student needs to learn I can:
Go over vocabulary, use words/ phrases in real-life examples, use visuals, create PowerPoints prior to the lesson, provide Brazilian Portuguese textbook pages, Brazilian Portuguese to English CD with Audio, prepare for quizzes, and teach pronunciations. Although I am young, I have taught 22 students from the ages of 12-15 how to improve their English at the age of 15. Now as a college student, I can expand my teaching to anything between level to high school ESL courses. Growing up learning English was fun simply because I loved learning and expanding my knowledge. I hope to pass that on to other students!
