About Thomas
I have off and on tutored students privately since my career began in Los Angeles Unified School District at Van Nuys Middle School in 1984, and I have a daughter who completed A.P. Calculus and has just begun studying Linguistics at the same university I went to as an undergraduate. Now that I have more time on my hands, I wish to continue to share my knowledge in helping others. Mathematics is a challenge to many, many people. I offer a diverse set of methods for helping students to understand concepts, including the use of manipulatives, analogies, Socratic questioning, visualization, technology, and other strategies.

I have taught and worked with all student levels, from Special Needs through Honors levels in nearly all mathematics courses.
I have extensive knowledge in problem solving strategies, distance learning, curriculum writing, and methodologies. I continue to hold a California Clear Single Subject Teaching Credential. I published a book entitled "Spirolaterals: An Integrated Curriculum Unit for Mathematics Teachers" through California State University, Dominguez Hills as part of my master's thesis which uses art as a mechanism for learning and doing mathematics. With a B.A. in Music (1980) from University of California, San Diego, I am able to successfully teach and connect mathematics concepts to right- and left-brained dominant students.
