About Matthew
I am passionate about ballet I started dancing at the age of 8 and completed the full 8 years of The Royal Ballet School- the school made famous by Billy Elliot. During my time as a student I performed at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles as well as working with Birmingham Royal Ballet and The Royal Ballet I joined Northern Ballet- a touring company in Leeds. There I created roles in new works such as Cleopatra, Beauty and the Beast and The Great Gatsby. I performed roles such as The Ghost of Christmas Past in Christmas Carol, Van Helsing in Dracula and The Wardrobe Master in Nixon's Midsummer Night's Dream at the Beijing Opera House. I then joined Scottish Ballet where I was involved in the creation of ballets such as David Dawson's Swan Lake and Helen Pickett's The Crucible. I performed roles such as Cinderella's Father in Cinderella (Hampson), Drosselmeyer The Nutcracker (Darrell) and Emperor Franz Joseph in Mayerling (Macmillan) In Summer 2022 I hung up my ballet shoes to join the Artistic Team at Scottish Ballet as well as to pursue my passion for teaching ballet to the widest possible audience.
