About Kayla
Hi! I’m Kayla, a passionate Bachelor of Education student specialising in Foundation Phase teaching. I’m based in Cape Town and have a genuine love for working with children and helping them grow in confidence.
Through my studies and practical teaching experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with young learners and teach subjects including English, reading, phonics, Mathematics and Life Skills. I particularly enjoy working with children in Grades R–3 and creating lessons that are fun, interactive and suited to each child’s individual needs.
I believe that children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and excited to participate. My tutoring style is patient, supportive and engaging, and I like using games, stories, visual activities and practical examples to make learning easier and more enjoyable.
Whether your child needs extra support with reading and phonics, help with Mathematics, assistance with homework, or simply a little more confidence in their schoolwork, I would love to help.
As I am studying to become a teacher, tutoring is also a wonderful opportunity for me to put my knowledge and teaching skills into practice while making a positive difference in a learner’s education.

My lessons are designed to be fun, engaging and personalised to each learner. I believe that every child learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style and activities according to their individual needs, ability and goals.
For Foundation Phase learners, I offer support with:
English and language development
Phonics, spelling and pronunciation
Reading and comprehension
Foundation Phase Mathematics
Homework and schoolwork support
Test and assessment preparation
School-readiness skills
I use a combination of explanation, questioning, visual resources, stories, games and practical activities to keep learners involved and make difficult concepts easier to understand.
Before starting, I like to understand what the learner is currently working on and which areas they may need extra support with. From there, I can structure lessons around their specific needs and school curriculum.
My lessons are relaxed and encouraging, and I want learners to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal isn't just to help a child complete their homework it's to help them understand what they're learning and become more confident and independent.
Lessons are available online, and I am happy to work with parents to find a schedule that fits their child's needs.
