About Javanna
Hello! I'm Ms. Javanna — a passionate educator with a Master's in Journalism, a Bachelor's in English, and a heart dedicated to helping young minds shine. With experience as both a teacher and paraprofessional, I specialize in tutoring elementary students in reading, writing, and foundational English skills. I believe learning should be joyful, engaging, and filled with “aha!” moments. I create a safe, encouraging space where kids can build confidence, ask questions freely, and grow at their own pace. Whether your child needs help decoding words, writing stronger sentences, or just learning to love books, I’m here to guide them every step of the way. I employ a collaborative teaching method that is student centered. A typical lesson plan includes a bell ringer/do now, and I follow the gradual release of responsibility model. This starts with modeling ("I do"), then working collaboratively ("we do") and then independent work ("you do"). What sets me apart is that I can adapt Common Core State Standards to be relatable to any audience I am teaching. My lessons are for elementary and middle school students.
