  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

French has been part of my life since childhood, as it is widely used in education and professional settings in Algeria. Over the years, I continued developing my skills through my studies, teaching experience, academic writing, and daily communication. My fluency is therefore the result of both my educational background and a genuine interest in the language and its culture.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

For me, it would be Victor Hugo. Beyond being one of the greatest figures in French literature, I have always been fascinated by his vision and imagination. I still remember one of my teachers explaining that Hugo was ahead of his time. In some of his writings, he imagined inventions and possibilities that did not yet exist, but that later became reality.

What I admire most is his ability to look beyond the world of his era and imagine what the future could be. This creativity, combined with his talent for storytelling and his concern for social justice, is what makes him such an inspiring representative of French culture for me.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

One French expression that has always stayed with me is "Quand on veut, on peut" ("Where there is a will, there is a way"). It is much more than a simple phrase to me, it is my personal motto in life. I apply it to my studies, my work, my relationships, and the challenges I face every day.

My mother taught me this expression when I was a child, and I have carried it with me ever since. Whenever I encounter difficulties or moments of doubt, these words remind me that determination, perseverance, and effort can help us achieve our goals. It is a simple phrase, but it has had a profound influence on the way I approach life.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

French opens doors to education, culture, professional opportunities, and international communication. It allows me to connect with people from different countries and backgrounds. As a teacher, it also enables me to share knowledge and help students gain confidence in expressing themselves in another language.

Beyond these practical advantages, I have always found French to be an elegant and expressive language. There is something unique about its sound and the way ideas can be conveyed with precision and nuance. Speaking French often creates positive connections with others, and I have noticed that people are naturally drawn to those who can communicate confidently and eloquently in the language.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

Many learners find French pronunciation, especially the famous French "u" sound, verb conjugation, and grammatical agreements challenging. However, these difficulties can be overcome with regular practice and exposure to the language.

As a teacher, I have seen many students struggle with pronunciation at first, only to improve significantly over time. This is why I always encourage learners not to be discouraged by mistakes.

Listening to French regularly, speaking without fear of making errors, and learning through real-life situations are among the most effective ways to make progress. With consistent practice and patience, learners are often surprised by how much they can improve.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

When I was younger, I used to worry about making mistakes when speaking French. As I gained more experience, I realized something important: even native speakers make mistakes. Whether in French, English, Arabic, or any other language, people can make grammatical errors, mispronounce words, or make mistakes in writing.

This realization changed my perspective completely. I understood that making mistakes is not a sign of failure, it is a natural part of learning and communication. Since then, I have always encouraged my students not to feel discouraged by errors. What matters most is having the confidence to practice, communicate, and keep improving. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn something new.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Travel has taught me that a language is much more than grammar and vocabulary, it is also a way of understanding people and cultures. As someone who has lived, studied, and traveled abroad, I have had the opportunity to meet people from many different countries and backgrounds. In these international environments, French often became a common language that allowed us to communicate, share experiences, and build friendships.

What helped me most was hearing French spoken by people with different accents, expressions, and cultural references. This showed me that the language is alive and diverse, far beyond what is taught in textbooks. These experiences improved my confidence, listening skills, and ability to communicate naturally in real-life situations.

They also taught me an important lesson that I share with my students today: language learning is not only about mastering rules, but also about connecting with people and discovering new perspectives.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to adapt each lesson to the student's personal goals, interests, and circumstances. I believe that people learn a language more effectively when they can immediately connect it to their real lives.

For example, if you are passionate about baking and plan to move to France to attend a baking school or work in a bakery, I can tailor our lessons to the vocabulary, situations, and conversations you are likely to encounter every day. If you are planning to study abroad, prepare for an exam, travel, or communicate professionally, we can focus on those specific needs.

One advantage that many of my students appreciate is that I am fluent in both French and English. This allows me to explain French grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation clearly in English when needed. Students often tell me that this makes learning easier because I understand the challenges English speakers face when learning French and can explain concepts from their perspective.

Another aspect that students frequently mention is that my classes are enjoyable. I believe that learning should not be stressful. I like to teach in a relaxed and positive atmosphere, often using humor, memes, and real-life examples to keep lessons engaging. When students enjoy the class, they participate more, gain confidence, and make faster progress.

My goal is not simply to teach grammar and vocabulary, but to help students gain the confidence to use French in real-life situations that matter to them.
