About Chi Chiu
About Me Hi everyone, my name is Chi Chiu Lam (you can simply call me Chi Chiu). Originally from Hong Kong and now based in Toronto, I am a multilingual language professional and educator passionate about connecting people through languages. I graduated from the University of Waterloo with a major in French and hold a Master’s degree that further strengthened my expertise in linguistics, culture, and communication. Before becoming a teacher, I worked for over five years as a French Chief Editor and Translator at an educational publishing company, where I led editorial projects, managed translation quality, and developed engaging learning materials. With more than a year of teaching experience, I currently work with over 70 students from different backgrounds. I strive to make language learning practical, interactive, and enjoyable. I am fluent in English, French, Cantonese, and Mandarin, which allows me to teach and communicate effectively across cultures. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- À propos de moi Bonjour à toutes et à tous, je m'appelle Chi Chiu Lam (vous pouvez m'appeler simplement Chi Chiu) Originaire de Hong Kong et maintenant basée à Toronto, je suis une professionnelle des langues et enseignante passionnée par la communication interculturelle. J’ai obtenu mon diplôme en études françaises à l’Université de Waterloo, suivi d’une maîtrise qui a approfondi mes connaissances en linguistique, culture et communication. Avant de devenir enseignante, j’ai travaillé plus de cinq ans comme rédactrice en chef et traductrice de français pour une maison d’édition éducative, où j’ai supervisé des projets éditoriaux, assuré la qualité des traductions et développé des supports d’apprentissage attractifs. Avec plus d’un an d’expérience dans l’enseignement, je travaille actuellement avec plus de 70 étudiants de divers horizons. Je m’efforce de rendre l’apprentissage des langues pratique, interactif et agréable. Je parle couramment anglais, français, cantonais et mandarin, ce qui me permet de communiquer et d’enseigner efficacement dans plusieurs cultures.

French Course Outline: From A1 to B2 Level This French course is designed for learners from beginner to intermediate levels (A1–B2) who want to build a strong foundation and gain confidence in real-life communication. The program focuses on essential language skills — pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening, and speaking — through interactive and practical activities. Students will start by mastering the French alphabet and sound system, learning how to pronounce words accurately and naturally. Vocabulary and grammar are introduced progressively through thematic lessons and real-world examples, helping you express yourself in daily conversations. Special attention is given to listening comprehension and oral communication, allowing students to understand native speakers and respond with ease. Additionally, there is a dedicated pronunciation workshop for students who wish to improve their French accent. This workshop focuses on correcting common pronunciation errors, rhythm, and intonation through targeted exercises and personalized feedback. By the end of the course, students will gain not only solid linguistic skills but also the confidence to speak French clearly and naturally in any context. _________________________________________________________________ Programme du cours de français : du niveau A1 au niveau B2 Ce cours de français s’adresse aux apprenants de niveau débutant à intermédiaire (A1–B2) souhaitant acquérir une base solide et progresser avec confiance dans la communication réelle. Le programme met l’accent sur les compétences essentielles — prononciation, vocabulaire, grammaire, compréhension orale et expression orale — à travers des activités interactives et pratiques.
