About Laura

I have a parent who is a native French speaker and have gone to fully french schools since I was small child. I have a degree in French studies and linguistics from York University, Glendon College. I am currently in Teacher college, in hopes of becoming a French Immersion teacher. I have been tutoring kids and adults of different levels since 2014.

About the lesson

I like to begin all my tutoring sessions by assessing the person's knowledge or capacity in French by asking them what they know or what they were taught at school and I build our learning plan from there. For example, if it is a person who has not had any prior teaching in French we will work on the basics such as, pronounciation, vocabulary building (through reading, games, pictures, flash cards). From there we can move to some more advance things such as important verbs to use (être and avoir), how to construct sentences and then conjugation, notably the present tense and how we apply this verb tense in everyday speech.
