About Ashlyn

I am a student at a Florida highschool, participating in over 14 Advanced Placement classes. I have achieved high scores (5's) on various tests, and kept up with my GPA placing me in the top 20% of my class. I have as well achieved numerous high GPA awards and have participated in the medical CNA program, for 4 years, planning to aquire my CNA and CMAA license at the end of my senior year. I as well participated in HOSA and FBLA, becoming a state qualifier for both and placing first in numerous competitions. I have achieved over a 700 in SAT reading, placing me in the 90th percentile.

About the lesson

Techniques used for my students consist of first getting a general baseline from Kahn Academy, which helps show the exact skills the child needs help on. I then move on to basic books and the comprehension of these books through a thorough analysis and a short quiz. I also use longer quizzes to assess if a child has met the skill and if they are ready to move on. The methods, however, will vary from student to student but will consist of a strong lesson plan discussed with the parent or student beforehand.

What sets me apart? My mother is a K–5 teacher and has shared lesson plans and strategies over the years. I have also assisted in a live and active classroom, engaging students in a lesson they will remember for years to come. I also create independent goals for each of my students and provide outside work and activities for home completion to help them master specific standards.

The lessons I teach are suited for K–6 students, for whom I have worked to master the curriculum and specifically the Florida reading standards.
