About Madeleine
I'm Maddy, an Oxford University graduate in Anthropology, with experience teaching private and group lessons in humanities subjects. I have most experience teaching English (language and literature), geography and psychology. I enjoy tailoring my lessons to exactly what the student is looking for, whether that be a content focus, exam technique, interview preparation or editing of written work.
I love tutoring one-to-one because I enjoy seeing the progress students can make so quickly. I have been through several rigorous exams during my academic career so I understand just how stressful such moments can be. I aim to ease this anxiety in every lesson!

My lessons are typically 1 hour long (but flexible if needed!) and involve working through areas the student most needs help with. I like to prepare my lessons in advance, having spoken to the student first. This might involve sheets to print out pre-lesson, or an online activity in which I can share my screen and we can work through the challenge together.
When preparing for an exam I focus my lessons around transferable and essential exam skills, as well as practising putting these tips and tricks into action.
I can set homework if this is something the student/parent would like, or if I feel the student needs to practice certain skills before our next lesson.
