About Emma
My math teacher in my first year of high school encouraged me to peer tutor because, in addition to high academic standing, I demonstrated a positive, growth mindset towards learning that would inspire other students. It has always been important to me to help others. Tutoring is the fusion of my desire to help others and my love for STEM. With over 3 years of tutoring and leadership experience with my school's peer tutoring program, I see and harness the potential in every one of my tutees. I obtained my Certificate of Achievement in Recognition of Leadership Skills and Successful Completion of Tutor Training and Peer Tutoring last year, and continue to seek certification and experience to further my skills as a peer tutor.

I follow a highly active and engaging model of teaching and learning by encouraging my tutees to be active participants in their learning process.
My tutees have never had a boring session with me because I utilize effective studying strategies such as active recall to ensure my tutees have a deep, comprehensive understanding of a math topic or concept.
By assessing my tutee's knowledge, I identify areas for improvement and help fill those gaps with practice problems and engaging learning tools such as online simulators and visualizers.
I am flexible and can cater to a wide variety of learning and teaching styles.
I prepare my tutees for math evaluations and equip them with the necessary skills and a positive growth mindset towards learning that encourages lifelong learning.
