About Raya
I was once in your shoes and I know, first-hand, how hard the GCSE season can be; especially if you don't have access to the right resources. Because of this, I aim to create a positive and encouraging environment for my students - breaking complex ideas into simpler steps. As someone with a strong academic background in English and a genuine passion for the subject, my goal will not only be to help you achieve your target grades but also to build the confidence and independent learning skills that will benefit you long after GCSEs.

My approach to teaching is student-centred, supportive and tailored to each individual's needs. I will begin by identifying a student's strengths and areas for improvement before creating lessons that will focus on building confidence alongside the key GCSE English Language skills. I will explain concepts clearly, use worked examples, and provide regular opportunities to practise exam-style questions, essay writing, text analysis and creative writing. Constructive feedback will be given throughout the lesson to help make students make continuous progress.
Lessons will normally last 60 minutes, although shorter and longer sessions can be discussed with the student. These lessons will be suitable for Year 9 to 11 students who want to improve their understanding of English, prepare for exams, and increase their confidence in reading, writing and literary analysis.
I am extremely passionate about English and am currently taking a BA (Hons) English Language and Linguistics degree at university. Although I am a new tutor, I am committed to creating a positive learning environment where students can feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace :)
