About Anya
Hi! I’m Anya, a Cell Biology & Physiology major at Brigham Young University with a strong academic background in math, biology, physics, and English/writing. I’m passionate about helping students not only improve their grades, but also feel confident and capable in the classroom.
As a tutor, I’m patient, encouraging, and highly organized. I focus on breaking down challenging topics into clear, manageable steps and making sure students truly understand the “why” behind what they’re learning. Whether a student needs help catching up, staying on track, or aiming for top scores, I create a supportive learning environment where they can ask questions comfortably and make steady progress.
My goal is for every student to leave each session feeling more prepared, more confident, and more independent in their studies.

Hi, I’m Anya, and my goal as a tutor is to help students feel confident and capable!
My teaching approach and techniques
I use a step-by-step, student-centered approach that focuses on understanding why something works, not just memorizing steps. I explain concepts in simple language first, then build up to more challenging problems once the foundation is solid. I also use:
Guided practice (we solve problems together first)
Active recall (quick questions to make sure it sticks)
Pattern recognition (especially helpful in math and physics)
Most importantly, I adapt my teaching style to how each student learns best—visual, verbal, or practice-based.
A typical lesson plan
A typical session is structured but flexible:
Quick check-in: What’s coming up—homework, quiz, test, essay, or a topic that feels confusing?
Targeted teaching: I teach the concept clearly and break it into manageable steps.
Practice + feedback: We work through problems or writing together, and I correct mistakes in real time.
Independent try: The student attempts a problem on their own to confirm they understand.
Wrap-up + plan: We review what improved and what to focus on next time.
What sets me apart
I’m a Cell Biology & Physiology major at BYU, so I bring a strong science background—but I’m also very proficient in writing and English, which helps students communicate clearly and think critically. I’m known for being patient, encouraging, and easy to understand, and I focus on building skills that lead to long-term improvement: organization, study strategies, test confidence, and problem-solving habits.
